Welcome to Dade County, Georgia, a slice of Americana where everyone is welcome to explore the grooviest of real-life getaways. From scenic vistas to world-class caving, hang gliding, hiking, and nature photography, there’s something for everybody in Trenton-Dade.
Dade County is famous for bluegrass and country music, and outdoor recreation. From Lookout Mountain to Sand Mountain to the Dade Valley, you can hike, bike, camp, golf, fish, hang glide, spelunk, or rappel. You can also shop, take in an art festival, or watch a movie at our outdoor theater.

Visit one of Georgia’s largest and scenic Parks, Cloudland Canyon State Park, atop of Lookout Mountain. There you can enjoy spectacular sunsets, gorgeous panoramic vistas and a wealth of flora and fauna. Take in the grandeur of plunging waterfalls and the elegance of trickling woodland creeks both working together to carve 1,000-foot-deep canyons and caves along the way.
A new trail system called River to Clouds Route will connect Cloudland Canyon State Park to the Riverwalk in Chattanooga, TN inviting hikers and mountain bikers to explore miles and miles of rugged trails. Or if you prefer, you can follow the gentle Town Creek Trail in Trenton, following Town Creek to Jenkins Park, where you’ll find picnic tables, quaint park benches, swings, a lovely playground, and the city pool.
Thrill seekers make their way to Lookout Mountain Flight Park, one of the world’s premier flight parks for hang gliders and paragliders. Whether you want to get certified to fly solo or just take a tandem flight, the friendly staff can help you soar like the eagles in this lifetime adventure.
Golfers can experience a spectacular game set amidst Dade County’s cliffs and valleys. The McLemore’s Highlands and The Keep courses has challenging cliff-edge holes while Trenton Golf Club presents 18 holes in a public, parkland-style course near downtown Trenton.
For those more interested in gentler pursuits, consider taking the family to the Wilderness Outdoor Theater in Slygo, between April and September, where you can relax in the region’s largest outdoor theater. With 1,000 parking spaces for two screened feature films, you can watch from your car or bring chairs and blankets for grassy hillside viewing.

Other Must-See attractions for your itinerary include the 1926 Dade County Historic Courthouse, which is home to the Alliance for Dade Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center as well as the new Cornerstone Gallery & Gifts. Close by is Veterans Memorial Park and some wonderful shops located around downtown Trenton such as SAC’s Thrift Avenue and Fowler Family Bin Store just to name a few.
While you’re in Trenton, add a little adventure to your day with a stop at the Oscar Ellis American Legion Post Military Museum, open Fridays and Saturdays. Then head down the road to Wildwood to meet the cute and cuddly alpacas at Rosie Mae’s Alpaca Farm, Boutique and Coffee Shop, sip a cozy drink, and cap it all off by treasure-hunting for your next great read at Buck’s Books—because every adventure deserves a good story to take home.
Situated at the narrowest part of Lookout Mountain, the view from historic Covenant College stretches across seven states, offering breathtaking vistas of the Smoky Mountains. The campus centerpiece, Carter Hall, built in 1928, was originally the Lookout Mountain Hotel—a grand luxury resort known as “The Castle in the Clouds,” where wealthy travelers and celebrities once escaped for rest and recreation. That legacy continues today just down the mountain at Lookout Pickleball Club, LLC, a unique stay-and-play destination where visitors can lodge, play, and unwind while soaking in the same iconic mountain scenery.
While on the mountain, visit Lookout Lavender Farm where you can pick lavender in season or visit the Lav Shack for wonderful lavender-infused products throughout the year. When you come down the mountain into the valley, you’ll find even more wonderful farms and gardens to explore. Rising Fawn Gardens offers herbal teas, tinctures, and rejuvenating yoga retreats, while Fox Mountain Farm features blueberries and u-pick flowers in season—or a scenic guided off-road adventure tour when the fields are resting. For a little self-care along the way, The Serenity Barn, LLC provides relaxing health and beauty services in a peaceful countryside setting.
On Sand Mountain, slow down and savor the experience. Learn the craft of fire-based cooking at Steel Pioneer Fire Cooking School, or book Noah’s Little Ark for a delightful farm visit, either at their location or brought straight to your special event.
If you're looking for farm fresh products, look no further than Iron Roots Pastures for fresh eggs and poultry. In downtown Trenton, make sure not to miss Dyer Livestock's Beef Shop, where you can get some tasty steaks or burgers for your next cookout. Heading north in the valley toward Wildwood, you can check out Wasawillow Farm in June for their huge daylily sale, or purchase produce and eggs from them throughout the year.
