Welcome to the Drugs Don’t Work program – you’re on your way to achieving and maintaining state certification as a drug-free workplace in Georgia and qualifying for a 7.5% discount on your workers’ compensation insurance!

1. APPLY FOR YOUR STATE CERTIFICATE

You must apply for your State Certificate and pay the $35 application fee.  You can apply for your Certificate as soon as you sign up for Drugs Don’t Work!

When you receive your Certificate, send it to your Worker’s Compensation Insurance Provider to receive your 7.5% discounted premium.

2. WRITE A SUBSTANCE POLICY FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION

You must have a Substance Abuse Policy that meets the requirements of Georgia law.  The Alliance for Dade has made it easy by providing a template you can use!

3. CONDUCT DRUG TESTING

Your organization must conduct:
  * pre-employment testing (can be done “on-site”)
  * post-accident testing
  * reasonable suspicion testing,  and
  * post treatment testing.
Your company is NOT required to conduct random or blanket testing (although we do strongly recommend random testing).

4. CONDUCT EMPLOYEE EDUCATION

Your organization can easily meet this requirement with no loss of workforce productivity by giving employees a monthly newsletter.
The Alliance for Dade will provide you with a free Employee Drug Education Newsletter on the first of each month. 

5. CONDUCT SUPERVISOR EDUCATION

Your organization can easily meet this requirement with no loss of workforce productivity by giving supervisors a monthly newsletter.
The Alliance for Dade will provide you with a free Supervisor Drug Education Newsletter on the first of each month. 

6. KEEP A LIST OF TREATMENT and COUNSELING CENTERS ON HAND

Your organization must have a list of Treatment and Counseling Centers to give to  employees if they test positive for drugs so they know where to go for help.

7. RENEW YOUR STATE CERTIFICATE ANNUALLY

You must RENEW your State Certificate and pay the $35 application fee each year.   Don’t worry – the Alliance for Dade will send you a reminder when it’s time to renew!
